Santo Domingo.- This Wednesday, Socorro Castellanos, a renowned figure in Dominican radio and television, passed away. Her pioneering career defined an era and left an invaluable legacy in national communication.

Born in Santiago de los Caballeros, Castellanos began her career in the 60s, paving the way in an industry dominated by men and becoming the first Dominican television producer.

She was one of the great promoters of formats dedicated to women and families, spaces in which an ethical, sober, and approachable communication proposal flourished, qualities that became her unmistakable hallmark.

Her voice, elegant and measured, became part of the country's soundscape. Her face, always associated with composure, respect, and talent, transcended generations. In emblematic programs such as Buenas Tardes a la Orden, Revista Eva, El Show del Mediodía and Punto Final, she left an indelible mark thanks to her commitment to the quality of the content and a professionalism beyond reproach.

For many, Socorro was not only a communicator, but a mentor, a silent pioneer who opened doors without boasting, and who inspired dozens of women to dream of having a space in the media. Her legacy is vast, not only for what she did in front of microphones and cameras, but for the dignity with which she always practiced the profession.

Today, Dominican radio and television are in mourning. A voice that accompanied lunches, afternoons, and nights has been silenced; a voice that spoke to us of values, family, culture, and country. But its echo will continue to resonate in every well-thought-out format, in every word spoken with respect, in every woman who takes a microphone to communicate with truth and heart.

Rest in peace, Socorro Castellanos, eternal lady of Dominican communication.
