Santo Domingo.– The extension of Line 2C of the Metro of Santo Domingo towards the municipality of Los Alcarrizos continues its course, but with a slower pace than expected. Although at first glance the structures seem to be practically completed, the panorama has not shown significant changes in recent months. During a tour conducted by this media outlet, it was found that the stations remain closed perimetrically with aluzinc panels and metallic meshes, preventing complete visual access to the interior. However, from the outside it is observed that many of the buildings present the same state they had one or even several months ago, which shows a slowdown in the pace of work.

The work, which formally began in February 2022, comprises a 7.3-kilometer stretch from the María Montez station to Los Alcarrizos. Although there is a presence of workers, trucks, and machinery in some areas of the route, the general environment suggests stagnant progress, with structures that still lack finishing touches. The authorities have announced that operational tests will begin in September of this year, and that the system will be operational in February 2026. However, the current conditions of the project raise doubts about whether those deadlines will be met without setbacks.
