Showers and high temperatures will mark the beginning of the weekend, according to Indomet

Santo Domingo. – The weather conditions in the Dominican Republic will be influenced during the next few hours by the presence of Saharan dust and an anticyclonic system, according to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet).

According to Carla Morales, forecaster at the National Forecast Center, these conditions will cause a partly cloudy sky, with a grayish appearance and scarce precipitation during the night.

However, a change is expected for this Friday, when a trough (atmospheric instability system) begins to approach the country, which will increase humidity and generate local showers, thunderstorms, and wind gusts, especially in the afternoon.

The provinces most likely to be affected are Gran Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, San Pedro de Macorís, the Central Mountain Range, and border areas.

Regarding temperatures, they will remain hot due to the time of year and the concentration of Saharan particles. Indomet recommends that citizens drink enough fluids, wear light-colored clothing, and avoid direct sun exposure between eleven in the morning and four in the afternoon.

Also, a maritime warning remains in effect due to dangerous waves. Operators of small vessels are advised to remain in port on the Atlantic coast, from Cabo Engaño (La Altagracia) to Cabo Cabrón (Samaná), as well as on the Caribbean coast, from Pedernales to Isla Beata.
