A man and a woman are murdered during a shootout in Santiago

Santiago.- A woman and a man were shot dead during a shootout that occurred early Saturday morning in the neighborhood Los Olivos, in Las Lavas of the municipality of Villa González of Santiago, a fact that leaves eight minor children orphaned. The victims were identified as Karina Castro Rodríguez, 26 years old, and San De León, 30, who received multiple gunshot wounds which facilitated hours later, while receiving medical attention at the José María Cabral y Báez Hospital in this city.

According to Dulce María Rodriguez, sister of the deceased, she was the mother of four children aged 6, 8, 11 and 13 years old. Faced with the death, Rodriguez demanded justice and asked that the case not go unpunished. According to preliminary reports, the attackers fled in a vehicle and a motorcycle after the shooting. The National Police is investigating the circumstances of the event and has not yet offered details about the crime. The bodies were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) of this city for the corresponding procedures.
