Walddy Lina gives a talk “The best stories are written in silence” at Datathon 2025

Santo Domingo. – Journalist and director of CR News, Walddy Lina Polanco, gave the conference titled “The best stories are written in silence” during Datathon 2025, an event held at the Ministry of Economy that brought together hundreds of students and professionals interested in innovation, communication and the power of data. During his presentation, Polanco highlighted how personal stories and perseverance can become engines of collective inspiration. He cited as an example the story of Malala Yousafzai, the young woman who, despite being attacked for defending the right to education, continued her fight until she became the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

"Malala's teaching is clear: it's not about what happens to us, but what we do with what happens to us," she expressed.

He also highlighted the perseverance of Thomas Edison, inventor of the light bulb, who failed more than a thousand times before achieving his creation.

“Perhaps we don't invent light bulbs, but we've all felt that after several attempts the doors don't open. The important thing is to remember that sometimes it only takes one more try for everything to change,” he reflected.

Walddy Lina Polanco also shared data that encourages action and reflection, including:

• According to Harvard Business Review, people remember an idea 22 times more when it is told as a story than when it is presented as a cold fact.
• According to a study by Bronnie Ware, 70% of people regret more what they didn't try than what they tried and failed.
• Innovative companies like Apple, Tesla, and SpaceX were born from ideas that were once considered "crazy".

The journalist emphasized that fame is not needed to inspire: "The most powerful stories are written in silence. Your story matters. Never underestimate the power of your example, because someone, somewhere, needs to hear exactly what you have already lived," she concluded. The Datathon 2025 solidifies itself as a space for learning and motivation where innovation and life stories intertwine to inspire new generations.
