Dominican man wanted for extradition arrested in Miches for multiple crimes in the U.S.

Miches, El Seibo. – National Police agents, in coordination with the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and with the support of the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), arrested this Sunday a man wanted for extradition by the American justice system for the alleged commission of several serious crimes. The detainee was identified as Juan Elías Zorrilla Pereida, 40 years old, who was captured at his residence in the La Gina sector, in the municipality of Miches.

According to the police report, Zorrilla Pereida faces charges in the United States of: • First-degree murder • Sexual abuse and spousal assault • Aggravated robbery • Destruction of evidence • Illegal possession and use of weapons The capture was carried out in compliance with extradition order number 001-0222025-SRES-00133 and judicial file 001-0222024-SOEX-00072. The arrested person was transferred under strict security measures to the headquarters of the DNCD in Santo Domingo, from where he will be placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office for the corresponding legal purposes. Authorities highlighted that this operation is part of the international cooperation agreements in the persecution of transnational crime and assured that they will continue to strengthen collaboration mechanisms with international justice organizations.
