Dominican government reaffirms fight against drug trafficking and commitment to regional security

Santo Domingo.– The Government of the Dominican Republic ratified its firm commitment to the fight against drug trafficking, highlighting its history of cooperation in international efforts aimed at eradicating this illicit activity by air, sea, and land. The authorities emphasized that this fight is part of a sustained policy of protecting citizens and strengthening regional security.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that all its actions against drug trafficking are framed within international law and the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements that strengthen Dominican maritime security and that of the Caribbean region. Furthermore, the willingness to continue working with allied countries to jointly confront the scourge of drug trafficking and its negative consequences, including violence, corruption, and the weakening of institutions, was highlighted. The authorities assured that international cooperation is key to ensuring effective and sustainable results in the fight against these criminal networks. Finally, the Dominican Republic reaffirmed its commitment to the recognized principle of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, consolidating its role as a responsible actor in the region and strengthening international cooperation to protect the stability, security, and development of all the peoples of the region.
