Labor Minister swears in Aura Celeste Fernández as new manager of the CNSS

The Minister of Labor and President of the National Council for Social Security (CNSS), Eddy Olivares, swore in the new General Manager of the National Council for Social Security (CNSS), Aura Celeste Fernández, in compliance with decree 541-25, after the entity sent a shortlist of candidates to the Executive Branch.

In an event that included members and officials of that body of the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS) and special guests.

During the event, Olivares highlighted the qualities of Fernández, emphasizing her exemplary career as a public official, as well as her capacity and commitment to institutionalism, which guarantee a fruitful management in the general management of CNSS.

He recalled that the Council is the highest instance of the Social Security System, which makes it necessary for it to function with effective and harmonious coordination, which the new general manager will fully guarantee.

Olivares recognized the remarkable work

carried out by the former general manager, Edward Guzmán, who is now fulfilling a new role within the system at the head of the National Health Insurance (Senasa), to whom he wishes the greatest success. Likewise, he highlighted the great work done by the interim general manager of the CNSS, Marilyn Rodríguez.

Meanwhile, the new general manager, Aura Celeste Fernández, upon being sworn in, thanked the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, the Minister of Labor and President of the CNSS, Eddy Olivares, as well as all the members of the Council for the trust placed in her to perform a function of such high responsibility.

"I assume this role with the awareness that Social Security is a fundamental right recognized in our Constitution, and represents a backbone in the construction of a more just, inclusive and supportive society," he expressed.

He stated that from the General Management of the CNSS, he will work with dedication and openness to ensure that this system continues to expand its coverage, responding to the needs of the citizenry.

Fernández is a lawyer with over 40 years of experience. She was a member of the Central Electoral Board in two periods, coordinator of the Commissioner for Support to the Reform and Modernization of Justice, member of the commission of jurists that drafted the Preliminary Draft of Constitutional Reform, which culminated in the 2010 Constitution and is honorary president of the National Bioethics Council in Health.
