MP says presented evidence that dismantles version of "crossfire" in La Barranquita

Santiago. – The Public Ministry incorporated as central evidence in the request for a coercive measure the videos captured by the National Emergency and Security Attention System 911, which show the development of the events in which five men died in the La Barranquita sector, as well as the alleged manipulation of the scene by agents of the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM). Recordings reveal that, on September 10, 2025 at 2:21 p.m., the accused police officers were waiting in their vehicles on Olympic Avenue. Minutes later, between 2:22 p.m. and 2:26 p.m., the five victims arrived at the plaza's parking lot, at which point the officers got out and shot at them without a word.

The material also shows a previous meeting of the eleven agents at a base and, after the execution, their incursion into nearby businesses to remove DVR equipment and cell phones, in order to erase records that contradicted the initial version of an alleged "armed confrontation." Among the places raided is the Tecnopolis location, from where they took the DVR.

With this evidence, the Prosecution maintains that it was an extrajudicial execution and not a shootout, as the agents claimed. Therefore, it requested that the case be declared complex and that 18 months of preventive detention be imposed against the eleven accused police officers, including Majors Álvaro Paredes Paniagua and Hansel Michel Cuevas Carrasco, Captain José Ignacio Gómez Rodríguez and eight other members of the institution.

The hearing to determine the coercive measure was set for next Thursday, October 9, at 9:00 in the morning.
