Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic extended the exemption from the obligation to carry passports with a minimum validity of six months for tourism purposes to citizens of countries of the European Union, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States, and England.
This way, nationals of said countries will be able to enter the Dominican Republic as tourists with passports that have a validity of less than six months during the period that said documents are valid.

The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) explained this Tuesday that this measure was put into effect in May 2024 and is now extended until December 31, 2026 to "facilitate the entry of tourists from these countries, which are the main markets for the Dominican Republic." This measure also extends "to citizens of other nationalities who are authorized to be included in the list of countries favored with this privilege," added the DGM in a press release. According to the Dominican authorities, this decision seeks to "eliminate barriers" and "ensure a more agile entry process for visitors from key source markets, who last year contributed more than 80% of the tourists who visited the country.
