A girl dies and her mother and grandmother are injured in a hit-and-run on a sidewalk in Palma

Palma. - A 7-year-old girl has died and her mother and grandmother have been injured this Sunday in Palma after a driver ran them over after going up on the sidewalk for reasons that are being investigated, although the first information indicates that the man had lost control of the car.

Municipal sources have detailed to EFE that the events occurred during the morning in the Coll d'en Rabassa neighborhood, near a well-known butcher shop, when the driver went up on the sidewalk of the street and ran them over.

As a result of the events, a girl has died and two other people, who correspond to the mother and grandmother of the deceased minor, have been injured.

Regarding the condition of the two relatives, the mother is seriously injured and the grandmother has suffered a clavicle fracture as a result of the incident, and they have had to be transferred to different hospitals.

The driver has tested negative for alcohol

On the other hand, the driver, who is around 50 years old and has tested negative for alcohol, was unharmed, although he has been taken to the hospital for several tests.

Although the causes of the incident are still to be clarified, the first reports indicate that he may have lost control of the vehicle, which is why he would have gone up onto the sidewalk.

SAMU 061 personnel, as well as the Local Police of Palma and the National Police, who are investigating the facts, have gone to the scene.

In addition, a team of psychologists from 112 has been deployed to assist the family members of the girl who has lost her life.
