Scattered showers are forecast in several provinces due to trough

Santo Domingo. - The Dominican Republic's Meteorology Institute (Indomet) forecast scattered showers due to a trough, towards provinces such as Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal, Peravia, San José de Ocoa, but especially over the coasts of La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Samaná, Duarte, Sánchez Ramírez, María Trinidad Sánchez, Espaillat, Puerto Plata and Monte Cristi from dawn. Similarly, from noon onwards, these precipitations will occur again over Monte Plata, San Cristóbal and Santo Domingo, extending towards San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, Santiago and La Vega, being occasional local showers, with a low probability of isolated electrical storms. At night, these precipitations will continue to occur towards the northwest, north and northeast. Tomorrow, Tuesday, rains of variable intensity and frequency are expected in the early hours of the morning, especially over Monte Cristi, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, María Trinidad Sánchez, Samaná and Duarte, which will be replicated towards Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Santiago, Monseñor Nouel, San Pedro de Macorís, Santo Domingo and San José de Ocoa during the morning. Later, they are expected over San Juan and Independencia, due to the incidence of a prefrontal trough and the moderate and cool northeast wind.

Due to the official start of winter in the northern hemisphere and the cool east/northeast wind, temperatures will continue to be more pleasant, mainly during the night and early morning in mountain areas and inland valleys of the country, where dense fogs and mists could also occur.
