San Juan.- The executive director of the Puerto Rico Ports Authority, Norberto Negrón, reported this Saturday that the Luis Muñoz Marín airport in San Juan, and six others, have had their flights canceled for safety following the United States military attack against Venezuela. The airports are the international Rafael Hernández in Aguadilla and Merceditas in Ponce, the regional Fernando Ribas Dominicci in Isla Grande (San Juan), José Aponte De la Torre in Ceiba, Benjamín Rivera and Antonio Rivera, in the island-municipalities of Culebra and Vieques, respectively, Negrón detailed in a statement. Negrón confirmed that commercial airspace at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, in San Juan, has been closed by order of the Federal Aviation Administration until tomorrow, Sunday. The head of Ports also said that he is in continuous communication with the management of the company Aerostar Holdings, operator of the San Juan airfield, in order to provide support to passengers who may be affected by this action.

"This could cause a disruption in flights to and from this, the main airport in the Caribbean. Faced with this, the Ports Authority is closely monitoring the situation," said Negrón.

He also said that he is evaluating the actions to be taken when the FAA order is lifted "and how flight patterns will be established, both departure and arrival". "We urge all passengers with flights today and tomorrow to promptly contact their airlines to find out the status of their flights and the contingencies that these airlines will implement to mitigate any situation," he added.
