Colombian government will invest more than six billion pesos in the National Anti-Drone Shield project

Bogotá, Colombia – The Colombian Government announced an investment exceeding six billion Colombian pesos, equivalent to approximately 1.615 billion dollars, for the development of the National Anti-Drone Shield project, an ambitious security strategy aimed at countering the use of drones in criminal activities and reinforcing the protection of the civilian population and the public force.

The information was released this Saturday by the Ministry of Defense, whose head, Pedro Sánchez Suárez, officially presented the initiative, calling it one of the most audacious and innovative in national security and defense.

“Colombia is launching one of the most audacious and innovative strategies for our national security and defense. We will develop the National Anti-Drone Shield project,” affirmed the minister, pointing out that the country faces a new challenge related to the use of unmanned aerial technologies by criminal structures.

The project seeks to strengthen the State's capabilities to detect, neutralize, and prevent threats arising from the misuse of drones, which have been used in various contexts for espionage, transport of explosives, and other illicit actions.

According to the Ministry of Defense, this investment is part of a comprehensive plan aimed at modernizing security systems and anticipating the risks posed by technological evolution in the field of organized crime and internal conflicts.

Authorities reiterated that the National Anti-Drone Shield will significantly contribute to the protection of strategic infrastructures, military and police operations, as well as the safety of citizens in general.
