Santo Domingo.– José Alfonso Rubiera, identified as one of the men accused of sexually abusing a young woman in the municipality of Villa González, offered his first public statements through the YouTube channel Capricornio TV, by the communicator Pablo José Rodríguez (Capricornio).

The interview was conducted in the province of Hato Mayor, where Rubiera was before surrendering to the authorities. According to the YouTuber himself, the surrender was coordinated by a cousin of the accused, through contacts made on social media.

The spokesman for the National Police, Diego Pesqueira, had described the arrest as "high risk", assuring that those involved were considered fugitives heavily armed.

Rubiera denied that the victim, Génesis Peña, was drugged or taken by force.

“She was neither drugged nor raped in any way. She was already a regular at the house where the act occurred and was not taken anywhere by force,” he stated.

The defendant maintained that Peña had shown prior interest in sharing with the group and that they maintained communication before the events.
"She was the one who said she wanted to have relationships with two of the choir boys. And before she arrived, she was already drinking alcohol with a friend and two others who appear in the video," Rubiera assured.

"Ella se quedó porque quiso, nadie la obligó. Nayeli le dijo: Vámonos. Génesis dijo que no se iba hasta que hiciera lo que fue a hacer",

dijo Alfonso, quién alegó que la víctima permaneció en el lugar por decisión propia.
Rubiera also asked "Fereré" to send the video to a "little friend" and she was the one who spread it months after the fact and this had an impact on the massive dissemination on social media.

The defendant acknowledged the magnitude of the scandal and expressed apologies to the people and the affected family members. “I apologize to the entire country, but things are not as they are being said. I will pay for my actions because that is wrong, but things are not like that”, Rubiera stated.

Rubiera concluded by sending a message to his family.

“A mi familia que vamos a salir bien de esto. Vamos a cumplir con lo que sea porque la cosa se salió de control. Las cosas no son así cómo se están diciendo. Nayeli está de testigo. Y yo pagaré por mi hecho porque eso está mal, pero las cosas no son así”,

concluyó Alfonso.

It has been reported in the media that the victim has faced episodes of emotional crisis after the event, including attempting to take their own life, a situation that has generated greater concern in their environment.

The authorities continue with the judicial process to determine responsibilities in this case that has caused great commotion in public opinion and scheduled for Wednesday at 9:00 in the morning at the Palace of Justice of Santiago. The prosecution does not rule out that more people are involved, since people at large linked to the case still remain. This afternoon, President Luis Abinader referred to the case, calling the six men accused of sexually abusing the young woman “savage and cowardly”.

“These are cases in which the Public Ministry must apply the full weight of the law, and we, as a Government, will support the search for evidence and everything the Police need during the investigation,” expressed Abinader at the LA Semanal press conference.
