Indomet forecasts rain and hot temperatures for tomorrow

Santo Domingo. – The National Office of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that the Dominican Republic will continue under unstable atmospheric conditions during the next few hours, due to the incidence of a tropical wave and a trough at mid and high levels of the troposphere. The predictor Damaris Mercedes indicated that both phenomena are generating moderate showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts, especially during the night hours of this Sunday. However, the rainfall is expected to begin to decrease during the early hours of the morning, with some isolated showers remaining over provinces such as La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Samaná and María Trinidad Sánchez.

For Monday morning, local showers are expected in these same areas of the East and Northeast of the country. However, in the afternoon, the downpours will intensify again towards the interior, affecting points of Gran Santo Domingo, Santo Domingo Norte, Monte Plata, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Dajabón, Elías Piña and San Juan de la Maguana, among other demarcations. Regarding maritime conditions, the situation is stable on most coasts, but significant increases in waves have been recorded offshore in the southwest of the country. For this reason, fragile, small, and medium-sized vessels are advised to operate with caution and not venture offshore. Also, temperatures will remain hot during the day, a product of the time of year, the east/southeast wind and the presence of a light layer of Saharan dust. The expert urged the population to hydrate adequately, wear light-colored clothing, and pay special attention to vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
