Traffic normalized after vehicle fire in 27 de Febrero tunnel

SANTO DOMINGO. – The traffic was fully restored on 27 de Febrero Avenue, in the National District, after a vehicle caught fire this Tuesday morning inside the tunnel in the west-east direction, causing heavy traffic congestion. The incident caused significant delays and affected traffic on several alternate routes, while authorities worked to control the situation and clear the area.

Faced with the emergency, the National Emergency and Security System 911 coordinated a rapid response, mobilizing two trucks from the National District Fire Department, an ambulance from the Directorate of Extrahospital Emergency Care Services (DAEH), a drone unit, and a unit from the National Police. Also, units from the General Directorate of Traffic and Ground Transportation Safety (Digesett) and the Military and Police Commission (Comipol) were present at the scene, who collaborated in regulating traffic and securing the area. The fire was reported around 7:00 in the morning and, according to the authorities, no injuries were reported.
