Young man from Caleta drowns while working on public beach in Bayahibe

Bayahíbe, La Altagracia. – A tragic event mourns the municipal district of Caleta after the death of a young man who drowned while working on the public beach of Bayahíbe, in the province of La Altagracia. The victim was identified as Keynmer Daniel Beltré Ubiera, 21 years old, who died of asphyxiation by immersion, according to the medical examiner acting in the case.

According to the preliminary report, the young man's body was found inside a boat, in front of the Dominican Republic Navy headquarters. Members of the National Police, the prosecutor José Fenelón Corporán and the doctor Ruth Esther Almanzar, who performed the body removal, went to the scene. According to a coworker, Keynmer was manipulating and coiling a rope inside the boat when he subsequently entered the water. At that moment, he became entangled with the rope, which prevented him from surfacing. The witness explained that he tried to help him immediately and managed to get him on the boat, but the young man no longer showed vital signs. The event occurred around 4:40 in the afternoon. The death of Keynmer Daniel Beltré Ubiera has generated deep consternation both in his hometown of Caleta and among colleagues and people who knew him in Bayahíbe, where he was considered a young, hardworking, and highly appreciated individual.
