Rome.- The Italian police has dismantled this Thursday a drug trafficking network active in the north of the country and in which 23 people were involved, including a 40-year-old Dominican, considered one of the leaders of the group, who has been arrested.
In total, the Prosecutor's Office of Treviso (northern Italy) is investigating 15 Dominicans, 4 Italians, 2 Moroccans, a Cuban and an Ecuadorian for drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons, with ages ranging from 24 to 53 years old, the Police Headquarters reported this Thursday. Two of them, aged 44 and 24, and also subject to pre-trial detention, "are currently missing," the same sources said. You may be interested in: US repatriates 96 Dominicans; total reaches 1,503 so far in 2025
The investigation began in June 2023 and made it possible to reconstruct a criminal organization dedicated to the trafficking of cocaine in hidden compartments of vehicles. The group operated mainly in the province of Treviso, although it had branches in other areas of northern Italy such as Veneto and the Emilia-Romagna region.
