New York.– A fire under a train at the PATH station in Newport (Jersey City) forced passengers to evacuate and suspended several lines during Monday's rush hour. Smoke was detected around 6:15 a.m., generating chaos and medical attention for some users due to smoke inhalation.
The affected routes included Journal Square–33rd Street and Hoboken–World Trade Center, although service between Hoboken and 33rd Street was later restored. Videos on social media show flames on the train and passengers demanding to open doors to evacuate. The incident adds to a series of recent problems in transportation between New Jersey and New York, including collisions and a fire in the Lincoln Tunnel.
