U.S. President Donald Trump told the newspaper The New York Times this Thursday that he does not plan to pardon the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recently arrested after a U.S. military operation.
"No, I don't see it," he replied to the direct question after indicating to the media that the rapper and music mogul, Sean Diddy Combs, requested a pardon, despite having been sentenced recently in October 2025 to four years and two months in prison for sexual offenses.

The Times' question also arose after Trump last month pardoned the former head of state of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, who had been sentenced to 45 years in prison for drug trafficking. On Monday, Maduro declared himself innocent in his first hearing before the US Justice Department in the Southern District Court of New York, where he is accused of narcoterrorism. "I am innocent, not guilty, I am a decent man, I remain president of my country," expressed Maduro, who spoke through an interpreter, before Judge Alvin Hellerstein.
