Santo Domingo, R.D. – The executive director of the National Institute of Physical Education (Inefi), Alberto Rodríguez Mella, positively valued the beginning of the construction of the Malecón Deportivo, one of the three fundamental axes of the Integrated Plan of Santo Domingo (PISD), calling it a “great vision of the municipal government and its mayor Carolina Mejía”.
Rodríguez Mella highlighted the importance of initiatives that promote physical activity and sports, especially in public spaces of high social value. “Everything that contributes to the development of sports in all its expressions is significant, and this project is even more so because of its urban and social impact,” he expressed.

The head of Inefi highlighted the symbolic and strategic value of the Malecón of the National District, stating that "for the first time in its history, this emblematic avenue is being considered for a project of such magnitude for the benefit of the health, well-being and recreation of the citizens".
The Sports Malecón is part of the ambitious urban transformation plan promoted by the National District Mayor's Office, and includes the adaptation of spaces for exercise, recreation and outdoor sports, with the aim of promoting healthy and accessible lifestyles for the entire population.
