SANTO DOMINGO.- The Baseball Operations management of the national and Caribbean champions, Leones del Escogido, announced infielder Jonathan Araúz and pitcher Darío Agrazal, both Panamanians, as reinforcements.

Araúz, 26 years old, comes from participating with the Saraperos de Saltillo in the Mexican Baseball League, where he batted .310, with 5 home runs, 26 RBIs, .984 OPS, 13 doubles and 25 runs in 40 games. The middle infielder has experience in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League, as he played for the Estrellas Orientales in the 2023-24 tournament. In 25 games, his average was .268, he hit a home run, drove in and scored 14, in addition to a .730 OPS. "Jonathan provides us with a versatile and secure glove in the infield, strengthening our defense. At the same time, he also gives us a dynamic bat in the lineup," said Escogido's general manager, Carlos Peña. Araúz's experience includes the Major Leagues, where he combined 90 games between 2020 and 2023 with the Boston Red Sox, the Baltimore Orioles, and the New York Mets. Agrazal, 30 years old, is back with the Leones, after pitching 13.0 innings in the last tournament, striking out 7, with an ERA of 4.15 and a 1-1 record in the regular season. "Darío has shown that he is a pitcher who rises to the occasion in important games and that courage is essential in this league," explained Peña. During this summer, the right-handed pitcher was part of the Leones de Yucatán in Mexican baseball, contributing with 3 victories and 23 strikeouts in 59.0 innings. His earned run average was 5.54. Agrazal also has experience in the Major Leagues, as he pitched in 2019 with the Pittsburgh Pirates and in 73.1 innings struck out 41 and had a 4-5 record with a 4.91 ERA. Araúz and Agrazal join right-handed pitchers Grant Gavin and Norge Ruiz, who were confirmed last Monday.
