SANTO DOMINGO. – The Leones del Escogido and the Gigantes del Cibao closed the day this Friday by splitting victories, after the francomacorisanos prevailed 10-2 in the second game of the doubleheader held at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium.

The Giants attacked scarlet opener Henry Sosa early, taking the lead in the first inning with a two-run home run by Jordan Díaz to left field. In the second inning, the visitors again generated a threat by loading the bases with one out. Sosa left the mound and was relieved by Diógenes Almengó, who with two wild pitches allowed two of the three runs of the inning to score.
El Escogido scored in the third inning against Shane Greene. Socrates Brito opened the attack with a double to center field and Junior Lake followed with a home run to left field, a hit that traveled 386 feet at 102.9 miles per hour, producing the two red runs.
However, the Colts continued their offensive and extended the lead with a four-run rally in the fourth, putting the score at 9-2, and added another one in the sixth to seal the game.
Víctor López (1-0) was credited with the victory after pitching a scoreless inning, while Sosa (0-1) took the loss after allowing five runs in 1.1 innings.
For the Lions, Lake finished 4-2 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored; Brito went 4-3 with a double and a run scored; Yamaico Navarro finished 3-2 with a double, and Gio Urshela went 3-1.
For the Giants, Díaz batted 5-2 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored; and Leury García finished 2-2 with a double, three runs scored, one RBI and two walks.
