Tegucigalpa. – A 16-year-old Asian teenager was placed under the protection of the Honduran State after being located in Roatán in circumstances that point to a possible case of human trafficking, according to competent authorities.
According to preliminary reports, the minor was found without a legal guardian and with documentation that did not fully match her identity, which activated child safety and protection protocols. In addition, she had difficulty communicating in Spanish.
The young woman was transferred to a specialized center under the supervision of the Secretariat for Children, Adolescence and Family (Senaf), where she receives comprehensive care that includes psychological support, legal assistance, and social accompaniment.
Honduran authorities, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, began efforts to contact their families and coordinate a possible safe return to their country of origin, guaranteeing respect for their rights and their well-being.
