The Islamist organization Hamas announced this Friday that it has agreed with the Palestinian factions, in a meeting held in Cairo, to transfer the Government of the Gaza Strip to a temporary Palestinian committee composed of "independent technocrats".
"This committee will be responsible for managing daily life and basic services in cooperation with Arab partners and international institutions, based on transparency and accountability at the national level," the statement reads.
The Palestinian group had already announced its willingness to cede the Gaza government before the arrival of the current ceasefire.
