INABIE serves 600 students in a visual health day in Jarabacoa

Jarabacoa.- The National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) assisted 600 students from 30 schools in this municipality and the benefits with the free delivery of eyeglasses, frames and medications for eye treatments during a Visual Health Day, which was supervised by its executive director, Adolfo Pérez.


During this activity, held over 5 consecutive days at the Arcadio Antonio Tiburcio Guzmán study center in this municipality of La Vega, within the INABIE Wellness Route, students, some with eye conditions and others preventively, were evaluated by specialists, and glasses and medications were provided free of charge to those whose diagnosis required it.


The glasses provided to students in public schools, in this and other Visual Health events, as well as at their headquarters, are made in the specialized laboratory of INABIE.


In pronouncing a few words in this activity, the CEO of INABIE highlighted that this initiative is part of the strengthening in its management of comprehensive well-being actions for students in the country's public education system, so that they acquire knowledge with the best conditions and care.

“We aim to continue reinforcing all the comprehensive services offered to students through INABIE, during our administration,” added the public servant.


He expressed his desire to provide care to teachers, administrative and support staff in the health days carried out by INABIE, as is done with food, to the extent that the budget allocated for these comprehensive welfare actions allows it.

The Visual Health day was valued as positive for the well-being of the students and the saving of money in the consultation, acquisition of frames, lenses and medications of the parents, by the director of the school district 06-03, María Elizabeth Rosario; the director of the educational center Arcadio Antonio Tiburcio Guzmán, José Rafael Durán Sánchez and mothers of students.


Mr. Durán Sánchez described it as "historic", "since another one of such magnitude had never been done", Ms. Rosario understands that this activity should be extended to the entire national territory due to its importance for the visual health of students, and the mother Masiel Páez highlighted the savings of parents in consultations, as well as in the acquisition of glasses and medications so that their children can see better.
