International health forum addresses advances in clinical genetics and global health

Santo Domingo.– The second edition of the Permanent Forum on Global Health and Clinical Genetics "Evidence-Based 2025", brought together specialists from Spain, the United States, Canada, Colombia, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic with the aim of discussing advances, challenges and good practices in the medical field. During the day, outstanding careers in international medicine were recognized. Doctor Robert Nelson, with more than five decades dedicated to innovation and academic training in the United States, received the Award for Innovation and Medical Education. Likewise, Doctor José M. García Sagredo, secretary general of the Royal National Academy of Medicine of Spain, was honored for his contribution to science and professional ethics.
Within the framework of the forum, the discussions highlighted the need for medicine that is closer to communities and a humanized approach to health care. Advances in clinical genetics, metabolic diseases, and genetic psychiatry were also discussed, as well as the challenges of evidence-based medicine in addressing global health problems.
The meeting included the participation of experts trained in institutions such as Harvard, Rockefeller University, and the National Institutes of Health of the United States, as well as representatives from academic and scientific centers in Europe and Latin America.

With the motto “Overcoming genetic diagnosis,” the activity was consolidated as a space for scientific exchange that seeks to strengthen medical updates and promote international cooperation for the benefit of the development of the health sector in the Dominican Republic.
