Juan Soto hits his 30th home run, but Mets don't stop their free fall in Major League Baseball

Santo Domingo. — Dominican Juan Soto shone again with the bat by hitting his 30th home run of the season and reaching 70 RBIs. However, his effort was not enough to prevent the New York Mets' 11-9 defeat against the Seattle Mariners at Citi Field.

The Mets are going through a critical moment: they have accumulated three consecutive losses and nine in their last ten games, being six games behind the Phillies in the National League East Division. By Seattle, catcher Cal Raleigh hit his 46th home run of the year and reached 100 RBIs, while the also Dominican Julio Rodríguez contributed a pair of doubles and two RBIs. In the losing cause, Ronny Mauricio went 2-for-4 with a stolen base.

  • Boston: Sandy Alcántara worked six innings of two hits and one run with seven strikeouts in the Marlins' 2-1 loss to the Red Sox. The Azuan right-hander lowered his ERA to 6.31.
  • Houston: Framber Valdez (11-6, 3.01) was punished with six hits and three runs in 6.2 innings, taking the loss in the 7-0 shutout suffered by the Astros against the Orioles.
With still a month and a half of regular season to go, Dominicans continue to make their mark in different scenarios, although their teams do not always manage to capitalize on that individual performance.
