Santo Domingo.— The University Hospital Maternidad Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia (HUMNSA) registered on January 1st the second birth of the year 2026, corresponding to a baby girl who came into the world in perfect health.
The newborn was born at 6:49 a.m. by cesarean section, due to lack of progress in labor, weighing 7 pounds and 5 ounces. Her mother, a 16-year-old teenager, had entered the health center at 1:21 a.m. with a full-term pregnancy of 39 weeks.
The baby, who will be named Yaidelyn, is the daughter of Yanianny Marte, of Dominican nationality and resident in the La Surza sector, in the National District. The mother and the newborn are stable and receiving routine medical attention at the hospital.
