Santo Domingo. - The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reiterated this Monday that it will maintain the capture and deportation operations of undocumented Haitians, in order to guarantee compliance with law 285-04 and the mandate of the Security and Defense Council of the Dominican Republic.
The institution stated in a note that the operational and migratory management processes are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic, the current legal framework and the norms of international law.
"Faced with the worsening internal situation in Haiti, surveillance and intelligence tasks have been increased to pursue the flows of migrants and irregular foreigners entering the national territory," the agency said.
In that order, he assured that, along with the State security forces, "we have deployed intelligence, counterintelligence, internal affairs, and immigration interdiction teams, with a primary focus on the approach routes that connect the provinces of the border zone with the main urban centers of the country through private vehicles, public transport, motorcycles, and pedestrian routes."
That effort, Migration explained, is carried out to guarantee security and inner peace in the Dominican Republic, since according to official statistics, 1.33b% of the accumulated crime rate in the country, which is currently 8.1%, corresponds to events involving Haitian citizens.
