The Director General of Customs (DGA), Nelson Arroyo, indicated that at the end of February, the collection levels indicate that those of the previous year will be exceeded.
Arroyo highlighted that the collections of the first month of the year were the best obtained in a January in the history of the institution, and that they expect to close the month of February with similar figures.
He explained that last year around RD$264 billion were collected and that for this year the established goal exceeds RD$294 billion.
The DGA closed the month of January with approximately RD$21,198 million collected, becoming the highest collection in the institution's history.
The January 2026 collections represent an increase of 6.03% more compared to January 2025, when RD$19,993 million was collected. This difference translates nominally into RD$1,204.77 million more collected.
