Santo Domingo.- The Dominican airline Arajet announced the launch of its new route to the United States, this time being the city of Chicago, to which travelers can connect from Punta Cana International Airport, the airline announced on Tuesday.

Starting November 15, Arajet will begin operations on the Punta Cana-O’Hare route, with flights three days a week. Flight sales from Chicago and Punta Cana will be available starting at 10:00 a.m. today and can be purchased from $117 dollars per leg, according to the company.

Arajet began operating flights to the United States, with Chicago being the fifth city to which it will fly from the Dominican Republic, after Boston, Miami, New York, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The company has the financial backing of Bain Capital and Griffin Global Asset Management.

The airline's expansion into the United States comes after the entry into force in December of the Open Skies bilateral agreement between the Dominican Republic and the United States, which eliminates certain restrictions on flights between both countries.

“Our continued growth allows for greater connectivity for both tourists and the Dominican diaspora, while boosting tourism and economic opportunities throughout the region,” stated Víctor Pacheco, CEO of Arajet.

From Punta Cana, travelers can connect with other destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America, added Arajet.

About Arajet

Arajet operates a new fleet of Boeing 737MAX-8 aircraft that provide safe and affordable travel to and from the Dominican Republic to various destinations in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean region.
