Houthis threaten to attack US ships if it gets involved in war against Iran

Sana.- Yemen's Shiite Houthi rebels threatened on Saturday to attack ships and warships of the United States in the Red Sea if this country "gets involved in an attack and aggression against Iran along with the Israeli enemy." This was warned by the military spokesman for the Houthis, Yahya Sarea, in a statement in which he assured that "any American attack or aggression" that supports Israel against Iran is "something that cannot be ignored". Sarea pointed out that Israel seeks "total control of the region and to implement the Zionist plan with the support and open collaboration of the United States" by trying to overthrow Iran, because it is its "biggest obstacle to the plan". "This means confiscating the freedom, independence, and dignity of our nation, enslaving it, humiliating it, distorting its identity, occupying its homeland, plundering its riches, and establishing a system of permissible bloodshed," said the military leader.

Therefore, he warned that "if the United States gets involved in an attack and aggression against Iran along with the Israeli enemy, the armed forces (of the Houthis) will attack their ships and warships in the Red Sea".

The U.S. and the Houthis, with the mediation of Oman, reached a ceasefire agreement on May 6th, limited to operations in the Red Sea, after which U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he would stop bombing the insurgents because they have decided to "capitulate" and halt their attacks. The Houthi military spokesman said today that their "armed forces monitor and observe all movements in the region, including hostile movements" against Yemen, and maintained that "they will take the legitimate measures necessary to defend themselves."

He also assured that "they will support any Arab or Islamic country subjected to Zionist aggression or that decides to confront it in self-defense or in support of the Palestinian resistance." Sarea added that they will not abandon "their brothers in the Gaza Strip nor will they allow this criminal entity, backed by the U.S., to implement its plans in the region. The Houthi group is the only movement of the so-called Axis of Resistance that claimed a military operation against Israel coordinated with the Iranian Army and Revolutionary Guard after the escalation of violence between both countries unleashed by Israeli bombings against Iran eight days ago.
