Luis Abinader responded this Monday to former president Danilo Medina, who stated that he would not attend a debate with him to discuss government works of both administrations
"so as not to humiliate him."
In that sense, during LA Semanal, the head of state stated that perhaps Medina should feel humiliated for not carrying out valuable works in his native province, mentioning the free zone carried out in his government.

Regarding this work, Abinader maintained that it has been a driving force for job creation in that locality, specifying that an airport is also being built.

When approached by the press, Medina expressed that in his opinion, a sitting president "should not be humiliated" and that these types of discussions are held during election campaigns, and neither of them is a candidate.
"It's that I would have to humiliate him and I understand that a sitting president is not humiliated, that can only be done in an electoral campaign debate and he is not a candidate nor am I, so there is no possible comparison between what President Abinader has done and what the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) has done," he said.
He added that the current government has neglected to follow the indicator plan that he left upon leaving the Presidential Palace, to continue with the construction of power plants to supply the demands of that sector.
In addition to this, the also president of the PLD maintained that they have allowed the rise in the price of energy, which obliges the distribution companies to acquire the most expensive energy than in his government.
