About Leah Campos

Leah Campos is a former operations officer in the Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) Clandestine Service, where she worked for more than a decade. During her time at the institution, she led operations, recruited personnel, and gathered strategic information in various countries in Latin America and Europe. Married, mother of four children, and a practicing Catholic, Campos defines herself as "conservative and Republican." In an interview with the media outlet *National Review*, she recounted that her vocation for public service was born within a military family: her father served in the United States Air Force and her two brothers were officers in the Marine Corps. Inspired by that legacy, she considered following the same path, until a former officer of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) encouraged her to join the CIA. In the political arena, Leah Campos served as a senior advisor to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs and as staff director of the Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere Affairs. Later, during the first administration of Donald Trump, she was appointed senior strategic advisor for Latin America, Southern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Born in the United States, Campos has Hispanic ancestry: her mother was a Spanish immigrant and her father, an American of Mexican roots. She is married to Alfred Francis, an officer in the United States Foreign Service, who served in Afghanistan. Leah Campos holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from Arizona State University and a Master's degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh.
