Storm Melissa causes chaos in the transit of Greater Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo. – The intense rains recorded in the afternoon of this Tuesday due to the passage of storm Melissa, which is moving south of the country, caused severe chaos in the traffic of Greater Santo Domingo during the afternoon. Vehicle movement on the main avenues became almost impossible. On roads like 27 de Febrero, John F. Kennedy, Ave. Luperón, Sarasota, Lincoln and Churchill, drivers advanced a few meters in minutes, reaching kilometer-long lines of vehicles. Citizen reports on social media revealed the situation in various parts of Greater Santo Domingo, such as Charles de Gaulle Avenue, Las Américas, and Isabel Aguiar, while reporting large accumulations of water. The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that storm Melissa will continue to cause showers during this Wednesday, mainly in the Caribbean coastal provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Azua, San José de Ocoa, Barahona and Pedernales.
