Abinader orders the opening of the Comptroller's Office and Treasury for end-of-month payments; banks will be able to open their doors

Santo Domingo. – President Luis Abinader ordered that the Comptroller General of the Republic and the National Treasury remain open this Friday in order to expedite the end-of-month payments to public institutions, despite the adverse weather conditions caused by Tropical Storm Melissa.

The measure seeks to ensure that public servants receive their salaries on time, even while labor restrictions are maintained in the provinces under red alert and teaching will be suspended nationwide as a preventive measure. Also, the country's financial institutions will be able to open their doors. The Government reiterated its call to the population to maintain prudence and follow the recommendations of the authorities.

Provinces on red alert

Barahona, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, San José de Ocoa, San Juan, Azua, Peravia, Pedernales, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, and Monte Plata are on red alert. While La Vega, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Samaná, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, La Altagracia, Elías Piña, Independencia and Bahoruco are on yellow alert. Likewise, María Trinidad Sánchez, Santiago and Duarte are under green alert.
