MADRID.- Real Madrid's right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, will be out of action for an estimated period of more than two months, after a muscle injury in the rectus femoris of the left leg was confirmed, according to club sources on Thursday.

The white team announced that, after the tests carried out by the Medical Services, the diagnosis was determined that will force the English player to start a new recovery process. The injury comes at the best moment for the defender since his arrival at Real Madrid on June 12, when he had managed to string together four consecutive starts. Alexander-Arnold was substituted due to injury in the 54th minute of the match against Athletic Club at San Mamés, thus cutting short his positive streak and reopening a difficult episode in his time at the merengue club.

I was coming from overcoming a previous injury

Before this setback, the Englishman had overcome a prolonged injury to the left hamstring, which kept him out from September 16 to October 26. After his return, he was regaining rhythm in training and had minutes at Anfield and Vallecas before the international break. That additional time of work allowed him to reach a level that earned him the trust of Xabi Alonso to start as a starter in four consecutive matches.

However, the new injury will once again slow down his progress.

Will miss around eight games

Due to the estimated recovery time, Alexander-Arnold will be out for approximately eight league matches, as well as the Spanish Super Cup, the league phase of the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey rounds that Real Madrid plays until February. The absence of the English player is added to that of Dani Carvajal, who is still recovering from arthroscopy on his right knee and will not return until 2026, leaving the club without natural right-backs available. This could lead Xabi Alonso to once again use the Uruguayan Fede Valverde in that position. On the other hand, French player Eduardo Camavinga is also doubtful for Sunday's match against Celta de Vigo, after suffering a slight sprain in his left ankle during the match against Athletic Club.
