Toros leave the Estrellas lying down and conquer the Caña Series

LA ROMANA.– Los Toros del Este (The Eastern Bulls) once again demonstrated their dominance in the eastern duels by leaving the Estrellas Orientales (Eastern Stars) on the field 4-3, thanks to a decisive hit by Ruddy Martín Jr., in an exciting game held this Tuesday at the Francisco A. Micheli stadium. With the victory, the taurinos (bulls) secured the Serie de la Caña 2025 (Sugar Cane Series 2025) with a record of 6-4, after winning the last four consecutive games.

In the bottom of the tenth episode, and with the Bulls down 3-2, Rafael Lantigua tied the score with a solid hit to center field that drove in Yairo Muñoz. With the bases loaded and the pressure at its maximum, Ruddy Martín Jr. sent a line drive to left field that drove in the definitive run in the legs of Ismael Alcántara, unleashing the orange celebration.

Bulls solidify second place

With their triumph, the Toros set their record at 21-17, holding firm in second place, with a 3.5-game lead over third place. The Estrellas, on the other hand, fall to the bottom of the table with 16-23. The victory went to reliever Joe Corbett (4-1, 2.29), who pitched two innings of one hit and one run (ghost runner), with three strikeouts. Junior Santos (0-1, 1.29) took the loss, allowing two runs and three hits in the tenth inning. The greens retook the lead when Ismael Munguía opened with a single, advanced on a hit by Carlos Martínez and reached home plate on a fielder's choice.

The outfielder Gilberto Celestino opened the inning with his first home run of the season, a solo shot to left field that tied the game again.

Estrellas scored the go-ahead run with a sacrifice bunt by Munguía, which brought the ghost runner Jorge Mateo home.
