Neyba's municipal market operates in critical conditions on the verge of 2026

Neyba. – On the threshold of the year 2026, the Neyba municipal market — popularly known as the Tierra Blanca market — began its commercial activities this Saturday, December 27, 2025, amidst a scene that reflects abandonment, precariousness, and deep structural deficiencies.

From the early hours of the morning, merchants and buyers agreed that the conditions in which this important supply center operates are undignified and represent a risk to both the health and safety of those who depend on it for their daily livelihood. The image is eloquent: dirt floors, lack of adequate drainage, accumulation of waste, absence of functional sanitary services, and visibly deteriorated infrastructure.

The vendors claim that, despite the multiple calls made over the years, the market continues to operate in conditions that do not correspond to the minimum health standards nor to the economic and social importance it has for Neyba and the nearby communities. "We work here because we have no other option, but this is not fair for us or for the customers," said one of the merchants consulted.

The municipal market is not only a space for commercial exchange, but also a nerve center of the local economy, where farmers, small producers, and entire families who depend on these sales to survive converge. However, institutional abandonment threatens to deepen poverty and informality in the area.

Faced with this reality, merchants and municipal authorities urgently call on municipal, provincial, and central government authorities to intervene immediately, allocating resources and executing a comprehensive renovation plan that guarantees dignified, safe, and humane conditions.

In Neyba, the situation of the municipal market is an open wound. And faced with the forcefulness of the images, as many affirm, words are superfluous... but action is unavoidable.
