Protests have been ongoing in Iran for 11 days, in mobilizations that began due to the collapse of the Iranian rial against the dollar but which soon turned to calls for the end of the Islamic Republic. Protests have spread to 92 cities in 27 of the country's 31 provinces in clashes that have claimed the lives of 36 people, not counting the two police officers who died today, according to data from the opposition NGO HRANA, based in the United States. At least 2,076 protesters have been detained so far. Iranian authorities do not report the number of civilians killed in the largest mobilizations against the Islamic Republic since 2022, when massive protests occurred after the death of Mahsa Amini after being arrested for not wearing the Islamic veil properly.
