Santo Domingo.- With a choked voice and visibly affected by the situation she is facing, Yesenia Durán went to De Último Minuto to ask for economic and solidarity support for her daughter Yesli Jaque, a baby one year and five months old who is facing a delicate health condition after being diagnosed with intestinal invagination, a condition that requires constant medical check-ups and prolonged treatments. Durán explained that the diagnosis was confirmed when the girl was just five months old and, since then, her life has become a cycle of consultations, studies, and specialized procedures with gastroenterologists, cardiologists, neurologists, and nutritionists. However, the cost of these treatments, added to the lack of medical insurance for the baby, has made the expenses unsustainable for the family.

The mother reported that the gastroenterologist's consultations amount to RD$4,000 each, while follow-up studies to assess the condition of the intestines must be performed every two months, with prices ranging from RD$1,500 to RD$2,000. Other tests such as the cephalogram, used to evaluate the nervous system, cost RD$4,500, and certain spinal studies reach up to RD$12,000.

"A year ago I had to find a sum of money that I didn't have to cover an urgent procedure. I could only deposit 150 thousand so that they would attend to my baby," she reported.

Regarding how she has been able to cope, Yesenia states that it depends on the support of her mother and the girl's father, who, she says, "is an excellent father who helps with what he can." However, she acknowledges that there are days when she doesn't even have the basics.

"There are nights when my baby doesn't sleep from pain and complains without being able to say where it hurts; that breaks my heart. I ask God not to let me go back, because I'm afraid," she expressed through tears.

The young mother is asking for financial help, food donations, or any kind of support that kind-hearted people can offer. For those who wish to communicate, she provided her mother's contact number: 809-209-2329. She also indicated that her own number only works for direct calls: 809-232-9449.

"I just want my baby to be okay. She's been fighting for a year, and I with her," Duran concluded.
