The assault occurred a few blocks from the Cibao Central Directorate of the National Police, which has generated outrage among residents of the area. According to the preliminary report, two men on a motorcycle intercepted the victim in the middle of a public road. In the security camera images, it is observed how the woman, upon noticing the suspicious presence, tries to take shelter behind a black Honda CR-V SUV. However, one of the individuals dismounts, chases her, and physically assaults her in the midst of a struggle to take her purse with documents and personal belongings. After achieving his goal, the aggressor fled with his accomplice to an unknown destination. Upon surrendering, Francisco de Jesús —who claimed to be a motorcycle taxi driver— stated he felt remorseful and alleged that he was approached by the man who carried out the robbery to offer him a transportation service, distancing himself from the planning of the assault. He defined himself as "a working person" and assured that he decided to appear before the authorities voluntarily. However, the Police are deepening the investigations to determine the degree of responsibility of each person involved in the event, while the second man involved is actively sought. The case has generated concern among residents of Padres Las Casas, who demand increased preventive patrols and decisive actions against crime, considering it alarming that an event of this nature occurred in the afternoon and so close to a police station. So far, the authorities have not offered additional details about the fugitive's identity or the measures that will be requested against the detainee in the coming hours.
