Santo Domingo.- A total of 719 surgical gloves, filled with marijuana and hidden inside disposable diapers, were seized by agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and members of the Public Ministry, within the framework of the reinforcement of joint inspection tasks, carried out in the port of Haina Oriental, Santo Domingo Oeste municipality.
Operational teams, supported by members of security agencies stationed at the terminal and assisted by canine units, intervened a tank that arrived on a ship from Brooklyn, New York, confiscating three boxes inside and immediately initiating the opening protocol.

By order of the prosecutor, the boxes were opened, containing dozens of diapers with 719 portions of marijuana, introduced in hundreds of disposable gloves, with a total weight of 38.54 pounds, according to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif).
The tank and the aforementioned boxes were sent by an individual with a supposed address on Warburton Ave, Yonkers, New York, and would be received by a man with an address on Licey road, Moca municipality, Espaillat province.The Public Ministry and the DNCD have initiated an investigation in relation to the frustrated drug trafficking operation, under this modality, while they continue to redouble interdiction operations in airports, ports, and throughout the national territory.
