SANTO DOMINGO.– The Senate of the Dominican Republic approved in first reading the bill regulating the Retentive Embargo, an initiative of senators Ricardo de los Santos, Cristóbal Venerado Castillo and Antonio Manuel Taveras Guzmán. The regulations stipulate that credits and movable property affected by the withholding order are subject to seizure, including financial products and incorporeal assets, in accordance with chapter IV of the law. In addition, it provides that each procedural act may only affect a maximum of ten credits per act. The withholding order allows a creditor to affect sums and movable property of their debtor that are in the possession of a third party, with the aim of preserving and executing a certain, liquid and enforceable credit.
