Santo Domingo.– The Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced, through its social media, the official calendar for the delivery of the new identity and electoral card, whose process will begin in January 2026.
Delivery to the general public is scheduled to begin on April 8, 2026, however, the electoral body will start the process this month with an official event on January 26, the date on which the document will be delivered to the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, on the occasion of the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte.You may be interested in: New ID card will be safer and last up to 25 years, assures the JCE
Prior to that act, the JCE will begin from January 8 the data capture for its members, as well as the subsequent delivery of the document. Likewise, between February and March, the new ID card will be delivered to senators, deputies, political leaders, judges of high courts and members of constitutional bodies, as well as to communicators, athletes, entrepreneurs, representatives of civil society, religious leaders and academics, among other sectors. During that same period, the organization will also carry out the capture of information from public and private servers, belonging to institutions with and without profit, previously authorized by the plenary of the JCE, with subsequent delivery of the document. The process of physical capture and delivery throughout the national territory, organized according to the month of birth of each citizen, will begin on April 8, 2026 and will extend until March 31, 2027. Regarding the validity of the new document, the JCE informed that people aged 18 to 35 years old will receive an ID valid for 12 years; those aged 36 to 60 years old, for 16 years; and citizens aged 61 years old or older, for 20 years. The president of the electoral body, Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, highlighted that the process was planned so that it does not coincide with electoral, pre-electoral or post-electoral years. Once the delivery is completed, the JCE announced that it will socialize with different sectors, especially those linked to childhood, the process for the issuance of the identity document to children aged 12 to 15 years.
