This measure triggered a wave of announcements from postal services, including those of Australia, United Kingdom, France, Germany, India, Italy, and Japan, indicating that most packages destined for the United States would no longer be accepted. The UPU indicated that the data exchanged between postal operators through its electronic network showed that traffic to the United States fell by 81% on August 29, compared to the previous week.
