Minister of Culture and Governor of Monte Plata lead "Table of Traditions" in Yamasá

With the firm purpose of preserving the cultural expressions that give identity to the Dominican people, the Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, and the provincial governor of Monte Plata, Rafaela Javier Gomera, led the opening of the first national meeting "Table of Traditions", held at the Hermanos Guillén Cultural Center, in Yamasá. The activity brought together cultural bearers, managers, authorities, and members of civil society from across the province, in a day focused on safeguarding and strengthening the living traditions of the country. The event took place under the slogan "Root of our identity", highlighting the importance of the customs that make up the Dominican cultural soul. During his intervention, Minister Salcedo stated: "With this meeting, we reaffirm the Dominican government's commitment to the protection of our intangible cultural heritage. Traditions are the thread that connects us to our history and to the future we want to build with pride".

For her part, Governor Rafaela Javier Gomera valued that Monte Plata has been the venue for this important initiative. “Our province is rich in culture, in hardworking people, and in history. We appreciate that our bearers are recognized and that public policies that strengthen our national identity are promoted from here”, she stated. The event also featured the participation of mayors Cruzdeyvi de los Santos (Yamasá), Héctor Figaris (Monte Plata) and Freilyn Hernández (Peralvillo), who supported the event, ratifying the commitment of local governments to the promotion and protection of the cultural heritage of their respective communities.
