Police capture "El Ratón", accused of a string of electrical wiring thefts in Santiago

Santiago. - The National Police arrested Ronny Bautista Marte, alias “El Ratón”, 23 years old, accused of carrying out a series of thefts of electrical wiring in businesses in the south of this city through the Property Crimes Investigation Unit, based in the Mari López detachment in this city The arrest was executed by order No. 08206-2025. During the detention, the officers seized a backpack with 26 rolls of stripped copper wires, presumably stolen from his recent criminal incursions. The investigation that led to finding his whereabouts began following a complaint filed on September 25, 2025, by the manager of a Banca Sport located in the Villa Olímpica sector. According to the report, in the early hours of the morning, the implicated person had forced the iron bars of the rear sliding door and stolen about 400 feet of electrical wiring.

The complainant also revealed that the establishment had been the victim of similar robberies on other occasions, under the same pattern of nocturnal forced entry. Authorities confirmed that "El Ratón" has at least five previous reports for theft of electrical wiring in different businesses in the south area, using similar methods to break into the premises. The detainee will be presented before the Public Prosecutor's Office, which will continue with the corresponding judicial process.
